TODAY IN CANADIAN MILITARY HISTORY

1918 - Corporal Herman Good of the 13th Battalion, C.E.F. charged a German position alone near Amiens, France, killing several of the enemy and making prisoners of the remaining defenders. Later that day, he assaulted another battery in the face of point-blank fire and captured the crews of all three guns. For his actions, Corporal Herman earned the Victoria Cross.
