Re: Grandmother Mary Crabb hoping to find World War II heroes who saved her life

Re: Grandmother Mary Crabb hoping to find World War II heroes who saved her life

This discrepancy can be easily solved. On page 3 of this thread, Steve posted names, service numbers and embarkation dates for our previously correct three. All three had the same embarkation date.

Presumably Steve can also tell us the date of embarkation for L/18?? Gnr Robert Cecil Griffin.

Alas, George, P/O Zareikin wasn't from Los Angeles. I doubt he ever visited it either. He was born and bred in Montreal. His father, David, moved the family to Los Angeles in 1950. Zareikin's brother, Samuel, was also killed on air operations. A wireless air gunner on No. 102 Squadron, killed 28 May...

Re: Grandmother Mary Crabb hoping to find World War II heroes who saved her life

This is a rather large family. When Sarah Theresa Munroe was born on August 8, 1859, in Nova Scotia, her father, Hugh, was 24, and her mother, Mary, was 20. She married James Brackett on October 3, 1883. They had nine children in 15 years. She died on September 24, 1946, in Wellington, Nova Scotia, ...

"Jas" was short for James. Much like "Chas" for Charles. It's still used a lot in the UK.
