LAC(P) Charles Ray HOLT R97663 RCAF(USA)

Post by Paul Squires » Fri Jan 24, 2025 12:23 am

Another question.

LAC(P) Charles Ray HOLT R97663 RCAF(USA) is listed in They Shall Grow Not Old as died August 31, 1941, accidently drowned as part of a swimming party at Green Bay, Lake Superior, Ontario. However his Unit is listed as #19 Elementary Flying Training School, Virden, Manitoba, a long way away.

Can anyone confirm that he was assigned to #19 EFTS? And if so, did he drown in Canada or perhaps on leave in the USA?

Many Thanks,

Paul

His service record, and a Police Report on his death and “why” he was at that location. He was finished his training in Virden, Manitoba and was on a short leave before going to Brandon,Manitoba to continue training

Thank-You Temujin,

That explains it. Sad story.

I'll input it into the file, with credit.
