Greetings, I have an Individual Lt. Robert "Paddy" Patrick Walker, who was one of the Americans that crossed the border into Canada prior to the U.S. joining in WW II. I found were he completed training in Canada with the RCAF, and was shipped overseas, there it said he "Transferred to the RAF from the RCAF, question one: Why would he need to transfer ??? Two: He flew Mosquito's in the RAF/RCAF does anyone know what RAF/RCAF Squadron that he was with ??? He eventually transferred to the USAAF 25th Bomb Group 653rd Bomb Squadron, still flying the "Mossie"
He is a fellow Texan from Austin, Texas, sadly passed January 7, 2010. if anyone has any further info on this Warrior, I would really appreciate it so I can pass the info on to the Museum in Terrell, Texas
Cheers
George

I’ll look more George, but I did find this interesting post in a paper……looks like someone “borrowed” his RCAF Log Book. I wonder if he ever got it back…..I would hope so
And whoever wrote the American info on the site BFBSM posted may have been “assuming” he transferred if he served in RAF Squadrons. RCAF pilots (in fact ALL Commonwealth nations) agreed to share their pilots to whichever Squadron needed reinforcements)…..their was, as you said, no need to “transfer” between Air Forces. It was complicated as the agreement handled “pay”, “discipline”, etc etc etc and also training under the BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan)
I’ll look for more

More info……..and I’ll try to see what Squadron he was with
This article says he did his flight training at (well its doesn’t give the units, but these were the flight schools at those two locations):
No. 21 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada
And advance flight training at:
No. 16 Service Flying Training School Hagersville, Ontario, Canada
