Need a little bit of help on P/O Francis Marsh Bathen, Minneapolis, Minnesota. I found were he got his wings at No. 11 SFTS, was shipped over to England, he did 32 missions, Not sure if he was with RCAF or USAAF for the 32 missions, but cannot find with what squadron. He shipped over Dec. 1942 He transferred to USAAF in later 1943, and was with 434 Air Base Unit in Santa Rosa, California, when on June 9, 1944 he was killed in a flying accident in a P-38, 43-29017

Any Help would be appreciated

Cheers

George

No 11 SFTS daily diary, his name is not in it, but on his course graduation day 13 Aug 1942, the top student was another American I’d thought I’d post for you George

Well, at least you were able to find info on the 32 missions was with the RCAF, with an additional 25 missions while in the USAAF. And the DNB - Died Non-Battle was the Accident while in the USAAF in the P-38

Find a Grave has it as Cordale Elmer Hammerand, Born 16 Nov 1915, Bellvue, Iowa. He died 30 June 1995 and buried Marshall, Missouri. Call sign of 'Tug", no other info at the moment.

Just confirming no info on a DFC in Canadian records, so it was a UK award.
