Lt. Francis E. Blanc, Army / RCAF

Greetings all,

Looking for info on which Squadron Lt. Francis E. Blanc, Born Brooklyn, New York, Passed 1971, Was in the Canadian Army for WW I, then joined RCAF for WW II, say he was captured and spent time in a Japanese P.O.W. Camp for 3 1/2 years.

Any help and Info would truly be appreciated

Thank You for the info Temujin, not sure about his WW II stuff, the Saskatchewan Legion Magazine said he was in WW I, which I found info on, and it said he was in WW II as well was captured by the Japanese and was made a guest for 3 1/2 years, but I cannot find anything about that, maybe it was a mistake, and the person doing the write up, got it wrong !

George I found this. He was a POW (civilian) of the Japanese. He worked for the Boyle Company in Singapore as mentioned in his obit

Thank You Temujin, I was starting to think I was losing it a bit, I knew I saw that he became a POW, but I was wondering Why and How, and you help fill in the gaps and the questions. So Actually, he was RFC in WW I, got out, and as a civilian, he became a POW.
