Flt Lt David Simpson Borland, RCAF 431 Sqdn

Post by georgetanksherman » Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:52 pm

Greetings everyone,

Seeking crew info, if possible, I have Flt Lt David Simpson Borland, DFC, J/12057, Pilot, RCAF No. 431 Squadron, from Erie, Pennsylvania. Have him flying Lancaster No. KB809 and on one occasion, December 5, 1945, flew the mascot "Minnie Simcoe". If possible, I would like to see if the names of the rest of his crew are available. Sadly F/L D.S. Borland passed away on August 27, 2004, May he Rest In Peace !

Any help truly appreciated,

Cheers

George

George, forget my question above, I’ve figured it out. Your date above should be Dec 5, 1944

I’ll see if I can find the records, I’m assuming you’re looking for the crew he flew with on Dec 5, 1944??

Temujin,

As always Thank You, Flt Lt D.S. Borland was one of the Americans that did not transfer to USAAF and stayed with RCAF till the end of the war, I thought it would be a long shot getting his crew names, as you know, I like putting the whole crew together when I can, so I appreciate the help, it's happier research when we can put a crew together that survived.

Hope all is well with you and the family, and that your travel plans are a go !

All the Best !

George
