Halifax, LV-960 & LW-437 collision

Post by georgetanksherman » Mon Mar 25, 2019 5:09 pm

Greetings, Halifax, LV-960 from RCAF 427 Squadron & LW-437 from RCAF 424 Squadron, on April 9/10, 1944 collided over RAF Leeming while forming up for Operations to attack the rail yards at Villeneuve St. Georges, France. LV-960 was damaged to where the aircraft could not continue to fly, so the skipper gave orders to bail out, with the aircraft crashing near Goole, Yorkshire, England. the flight crew survived. The other aircraft LW-437 was also damaged, but the pilot was able to regain control and safely landed back at base, with the crew safe. I have the names of the 427 Sqdn crew from LV-960, But all I have from LW-427 from 424 Sqdn is F/O J. Lambert , Would anyone know the rest of the crew ??? Any help would be appreciated !

Thank You Phil, Mom was a survivor of the German bombings in London during WW II, between the bombers, V-1's and V-2's, she had told me of the horrendous stories. Five years ago she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, where we learned a lot of this horrible disease ! She is at peace now ! But we miss her very much !
