Hi Temujin,
thank you for posting the February 1945 nominal roll of 1 CPB. I looked for a soldier called H A Bezo - but I cannot find him on that list. Did 1 CPB receice replacements after February 1945? I suppose that Bezo saw action and jumped into combat on March 24th, 1945. Why? Because in the early 1980s I found his Sykes-Fairbairn commando knife on the former "Varsity"-battlefield i.e. LZ A near the hamlet of Bergerfurth, where I grew up. Here's my story about Bezo:
In 1995, for the 50th anniversary of "Varsity" I met tow Canadians who later sent me these photos - supposed to show Bezo:

My Uncle was V.W. Hodge under HQ Company in the Nominal Roll. Was wondering if anyone knows what the role was of HQ company was during this time in the battalion. Any info would be appreciated. He was originally under B Company.

Thank you for the nominal rolls. They are very helpful. I have another question. Ive been going threw my uncles service records and the abbreviations on them are not very clear to me. Also, the dates seem to be out of order. Im hoping someone could shed light on this. The war diary says that new reinforcements became available on Nov.12th 1943. I was wondering if my uncle could have been one of them although i thought he already belonged to the battalion. He was qualified as a paratrooper on Oct. 18th 1943.
I can help you decipher his records and give you more information if you wish. May I suggest that you send me a PM on this site so we can share e-mails. With e-mails I can share information directly with you.
Cheers

My uncle was a member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. I have his war records. He enlisted on March 28, 1944. He attended the Canadian Parachute Training School in Shilo between June 22, 1944 and September 6, 1944. He qualified as a parachutist on September 6, 1944. He was sent to England on October 12, 1944 and joined the 1st Canadian Parachute Training Company on October 27, 1944. It appears that he joined the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion sometime in early 1945 (the date is unreadable). The next entry in his war record has him back in Calgary on June 13, 1945. I can’t find him on any Nominal Roll for the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion between October 1944 and February 1945. My questions are: (1) do the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion War Diaries include the 1st Canadian Parachute Training Company?; (2) where can I find Nominal Rolls for the 1st Canadian Parachute Training Company?; and more generally, how much interaction occurred between the Training Company and the regular Battalion in England?
