P/O Arthur Climie MacDonald J3749

Post by Paul Squires » Sun Mar 09, 2025 1:17 pm

Hi All,

P/O Arthur Climie MacDonald J3749, #1 SFTS, Camp Borden, Ontario, went missing Dec. 12, 1941 in Harvard II #2612 in poor weather, as part of a large flight from Hagersville, Ontario to Camp Borden. There was a large search but the aircraft was not found, and is believed to have come down in Lake Ontario. Based on a newspaper clipping appended to the #1 SFTS ORB P/O MacDonald's body was found washed ashore near Oakville, Ontario in March (?), 1942. All I know from newspaper reports was he was found on a Friday.

Does anyone know the date the body was discovered?

And was the wreck of Harvard #2612 ever found?

All the Best,

Hi Again Temujin,

March 20, 1942. That's a Friday, so that checks out.

I guess the wreck might be found someday now the zebra mussels have made the water so clear.

Again, Many Thanks, and I am always impressed with your access to data.

All the Best,

Paul
