Hi All,

I am looking for the name of the spouse of F/O A.J. Fraser J3271, lost January 3, 1942 when his #106 Squadron Hampden was shot down by anti-aircraft fire on a GARDENING sortie. His parents are listed in the Canadian Virtual War Memorial as from Calgary, resident in Ottawa, and there are references to his wife residing in Saint John, New Brunswick, one of the places F/O Fraser lived when an employee of the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotia Bank).

Additionally, does anyone know his place of birth? His father served as an executive of the National Dairy Council in Ottawa, but it might be that F/O Fraser was born in the West.

Many Thanks, and All the Best,

Paul Squires

Hi Temujin,

Complete and more.

That he only arrived at his Squadron the day before his loss is tragic.

I wonder how that was done in a Hampden. Was he a second pilot making his flight for experience? Replacing an Air Gunner perhaps?

Many Thanks,

Actually Paul, in a letter in the Post above (I’ve reposted it below) it explains he was the navigator on his final sortie.
