Looking for information on the Canadian Provost Corps during WWII, specifically regarding records of missing personnel. My grandfather served in the Provost Corps, and I'm trying to find out if he was ever listed as missing in action. Any resources or advice on where to find these records would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps nominal rolls or lists of casualties? Any help with researching Cpl. John Smith (Service Number A12345) would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

G’day,
His service records would be a great way to start. Have a look at this page for information:
https://library-archives.canada.ca/eng/ ... ar.aspx#a3.
If you know which specific unit within the Provost Corps he served you can try the unit war diary. This would be a long read, and delving through a large amount of potentially irrelevant information.
Service records are always the best place to start, to prevent unnecessary use of time and finances.

First, his Service Number (Regimental Number) of A12345 indicates in joined in Southern Ontario, and he originally joined the Perth Regiment.
I recognized the numbers as my father in Law also was in the Perth Regiment and he became a Military Policeman himself AFTER the war.
I’ll check to see if I can find anything else, but check the Perth Regiment info first

I looked thru my files at the Regimental Records for the Perth Regiment, and I’m afraid you have the wrong Service Number.
The Service Number for A12345 was allocated to Pte K.R. Henry
Do you have the document that gives you his Service (Regimental) Number??? Or where you got this from

As per the above, his last unit was
No 6 Provost Company, Canadian Provost Corps
Library and Archives Canada has 3 files in their records, unfortunately they have NOT been digitized…..but you could always contact them to see if they would give you copies…..OR……hire a private researcher o photograph the files. Private Researchers name’s and contacts on given on LAC Webpage
