John Wesley Cowling - 430 Squadron RCAF - September 20, 1944.

75 years ago today, on the morning of the 20th September 1944, Flying Officer Gillmor of 430 Squadron RCAF got the order to fly a recce mission over the Arnhem area. Flight Lieutenant John Wesley 'Jack' Cowling would act as cover. Due to bad weather the mission had to be aborted and the order came to return to base. Cowling's acknowledgement was the last thing that was ever heard of him... All contact was lost and he was eventually reported as missing. Later it turned out that he crashed with his Mustang Mk. I AM201 'S' in the Belgian village of Vorselaar where he still lies buried in the communal cemetery.

Some additional records. First record is him, the second two records “may” be him??
