Thanks so much for posting this. Do you happen to have the diary for No. 14 Canadian Field Ambulance for April 1945? My grandfather was with the unit and was wounded on April 10th. Was hoping to get some more info on what happened.

Sorry, I don’t have that diary. You can see it at LAC in Ottawa, if you live near there. Another option is to hire a private researcher to copy those pages of the diaries for you. LAC has a webpage that lists “researchers” that you can contact to search the archives for you.

BUT, war diaries “usually” did not contain information on Individual soldiers (except for Officer’s).......BUT, some of the smaller units (such as this one) “could” have info on soldiers in the diaries. Only way to find out is to check the diaries.

Here’s a Link to LAC and the specific war diary your looking for

Motown, a follow up. If you can share his name, we can also see what we can find?? If you’d rather share it privately, you can message me on this website with any info you wish to share.

Cheers

I have the diaries for May, June and July of 1944, no 1945 I'm afraid. When did you Grandfather join the 14th Field Ambulance?

Thanks for the info. His last name was Gillard. I don't see his name on the roll but I do know he was transferred from No. 20 Cdn General Hospital to this division in April 1945.
